A semester-long project for an illustration elective. Students in this course create their own visual book on any theme of their choice, ranging from graphic novels to zines to instructional booklets, so long as there are illustrations and it’s in book format. I wanted to do a field guide of imaginative creatures and plants and format it as a researcher’s journal, hence the notes and rough paintings. Many of these creatures and flora are combinations of different animals, plants, and even some objects.
