Mood is an illustrated short story made during one of my illustration elective courses in my 4th year. The goal of this project was to create an illustrated book without using a single text, meanwhile telling the story of how one character lives their daily life. Something that I wanted to attempt was colors to indicate a shift in moods of the character. Blue would be for a positive, happy mood and the red for a negative, not-so-happy mood; the purple is a neutral ground that’s prone to shifting between the two colors. I added the colors on objects and people to indicate what kind of mood they give off. Initially I wanted to tell the story of a college student going through their day, but I thought about an office worker and the narrative of going from a stressful day to vacation. After drafting the storyboard for the book, I expanded the sketches and prepped them for inking and digital coloring.
